President’s Address

Dame Dr. Sheila McKenzie

In the year 2003, the inception of the World Organization of Natural Medicine (WONM) marked a pivotal moment in the global landscape of healthcare and humanitarianism. Our founding vision was nothing short of profound—to revive and elevate the age-old healing techniques, deeply rooted in ancestral wisdom, and to champion the cause of humanitarian values through the transformative power of education, particularly in underserved communities.

As we commemorate the passage of time and reflect upon our journey, we find ourselves amidst a treasure trove of remarkable achievements:

Our annual international conferences have transcended borders, uniting with diverse organizations worldwide. These collaborations have yielded a multitude of think tank sessions that delve into the heart of issues plaguing marginalized populations. Whether it be the pursuit of peacebuilding or the dissemination of knowledge regarding sustainable development for vulnerable communities, these gatherings have illuminated pathways to progress.

WONM’s commitment to excellence has extended to our collaboration with certifying bodies, a partnership designed to maintain the highest standards within our membership. We proudly uphold rigorous certification standards and remain fervent in our support for continuous professional development. An illustrious distinction is that WONM stands as the sole certifying entity for humanitarian practitioners, Doctors of Humanitarian Services, Practitioners of Humanitarian Services, and Doctors of Humanitarian Medicine.

WONM Clinics for Humanity have journeyed far and wide, reaching communities not only in North and South America but also across the Middle East and Asia. The impact of these clinics reverberates throughout underserved regions, offering a lifeline of humanitarian services. Our approach is steeped in the ethos of sustainable human potential development, facilitated through comprehensive self-care education.

The realm of natural medicine research has witnessed significant enrichment under our auspices. We have not only nurtured the minds of future researchers but also facilitated opportunities for doctoral and fellowship research within our dedicated research department—the University of Humanitarian Medicine.

In the throes of a global pandemic, when uncertainty loomed large and the world yearned for a beacon of hope, WONM responded with unwavering determination. “Turning Point-2020” emerged as a landmark event, gathering preeminent experts from various disciplines to inspire hope and healing. This online symposium reached an astonishing 2.5 million individuals across the globe, offering solace and guidance during a turbulent period.

Looking ahead, as we embark on this New Era of Consciousness for humanity, WONM stands resolute in its mission. We remain dedicated to the pursuit of a world enriched by compassion, knowledge, and healing. Our commitment is unwavering, and we endeavor to leave a lasting legacy—a world that is not merely improved but transformed, for the benefit of generations yet to come.

With heartfelt sincerity,

Dame Dr. Sheila McKenzie
